The Site of the Brazil Meeting is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit and a classic red tourism attraction.

The Brazil Meeting Site was originally called BanYou Temple, located in Baxi Township, Ruoergai County, at the southeastern border between Aba Prefecture and Gansu Province, approximately 32 kilometers east of Ruoergai County. The temple faces north and lies adjacent to the Baxi River, encircled by mountains and lush forests. The Brazil Meeting Site (BanYou Temple) was initially constructed in the 18th year of Emperor Kangxi’s reign in the Qing Dynasty, with its original layout designed as a quadrangle courtyard. On September 9, 1935, the Politburo of the CPC Central Committee held the famous “Brazil Meeting” in the main hall of BanYou Temple to address Zhang Guotao’s rightist opportunism. The meeting criticized Zhang’s errors and decided that the Central Red Army would continue its march northward. The profound historical significance of the Brazil Meeting was highlighted by Mao Zedong in his article “The Role of the Chinese Communist Party in the National War”: “Thanks to the Brazil Meeting and the Yan’an Meeting, which opposed Zhang Guotao’s rightist opportunism, the entire Red Army was united, the whole Party became more consolidated, and it bravely engaged in the War of Resistance against Japan.”

Climate Characteristics: The climate is mild with distinct seasons. The northern part features a quasi-south subtropical monsoon humid climate; the mountainous areas in the south have varying climates including mid-subtropical, north subtropical, south temperate, and north temperate zones, characterized by a three-dimensional alpine climate. The annual average temperature ranges from 17.1°C to 18.5°C, annual precipitation from 748.4 mm to 1184.2 mm, sunshine duration from 1200 to 1400 hours, and the frost-free period from 300 to 358 days.

Honors: The Brazil Meeting Site was designated as a Provincial-Level Cultural Relics Protection Unit in 1978.
