Hongyuan Moon Bay is a national AAAA-level tourist attraction.

Moon Bay is located 3 kilometers from Hongyuan County and sits close to Provincial Highway 209 and the county town of Qiongxi. On a vast grassland, the Baihe River winds through in an “S” shape, resembling a crescent moon in the sky—hence the name “Moon Bay.” At dusk, the nearby grass is lush and green, distant mountains layer in deep hues, and the setting sun paints the sky—and the winding water—crimson. Horses standing by the river graze leisurely, swishing their tails, adding to the exceptional tranquility of the grassland. Here, the grassland and the Baihe River blend harmoniously, creating a magnificent and picturesque highland riverside scene. The Moon Bay tourist area boasts enchanting grassland scenery (Moon Bay), mysterious religious culture (Masé Temple), and vibrant Tibetan ethnic charm, making it a microcosm of Hongyuan’s tourism resources. Coupled with its excellent transportation location advantage, being right next to Provincial Highway 209 and the county town of Qiongxi, the area holds great potential for development.

Climate: The region has a continental plateau cold temperate monsoon climate, which is cold, with indistinct seasons, short springs and autumns, long winters without summer, and strong solar radiation. January is the coldest month, July the hottest, with an average annual sunshine of 2,417 hours and an average annual precipitation of 753 mm.
