Cao Yu Tan Scenic Area is located on the upper reaches of the Qingyi River within Hongya County, covering an area of 18 square kilometers. Within the scenic area, ancient clusters of Alsophila spinulosa trees reflect on the emerald-green water, as stunning natural landscapes and rich cultural history blend together to create a unique river gorge scenery renowned both in China and abroad.

Leveraging its exceptional natural and cultural landscape, Cao Yu Tan Scenic Area has developed six major scenic zones and 40 attractions. The area enjoys convenient transportation and well-developed communication facilities. There are also four hotels offering accommodations in various grades, providing over 1,100 beds in total. The “Yajiang Academy,” nestled amid verdant mountains, is entirely constructed in the architectural style of the original Qing Dynasty building. Ascending the 33-meter-high Kuixing Pavilion offers panoramic views of the scenic zone. The “Thousand Towers Buddhist Land,” built along the mountain slope with well-arranged layout, features a collection of 108 famous pagodas from across China. A massive reclining Buddha, 45.3 meters long and 12.5 meters high, lies peacefully by the river. On the cliffs of Golden Ship Mountain, the “Natural Laughing Buddha,” “Golden Mountain Waterfall,” and “Sky-reaching Cloud Ladder” are acclaimed as the “Three Wonders” of Cao Yu Tan. Inside Jinzhou Temple, the “Eighteen Arhats” display diverse expressions, while the “Four Heavenly Kings” stand majestically. In the Alsophila Spinulosa Gorge, winding peaks and flowing waters create a delightful scenery, with sheer cliffs on both banks exuding grandeur and peril.
