Luoba Ancient Town

Luoba Ancient Town is located 25 kilometers west of the county town, nestled at the foot of Mount Akasha — known as the “Famous Mountain of Scholars” — by the Qingyi River. The town boasts a profound cultural heritage and abundant tourism resources. Historically, it was a thriving center of Buddhist culture, with the most renowned site being Mount Akasha, also referred to as the “Famous Mountain of Scholars.” This is where Tian Xi, a prominent statesman of the Northern Song Dynasty, received his early education. The mountain lies on the slopes behind Jiulong Village in Luoba Town, resembling a three-peaked penholder when viewed from afar. It stands at an elevation of 828 meters and features attractions such as the 115-meter-high Akasha Waterfall, the former residence site of Tian Wan in Tianwan, Milk Spring, the stone pillars of Tian Xi’s Old Hall, Tian Xi’s Ink-Washing Pool, stone carvings of a thousand-li horse, the Thousand Buddha Cliff rock carvings from the Tang Dynasty, Akasha Temple, the Mountain Gate of the Famous Mountain of Scholars, and the Stone Steps Leading to the Clouds. The Luoba Township built a 500-meter-long ancient-style street in the late Qing Dynasty, and in 1997, a 15-acre farmers’ market was established. The market is held on every double lunar calendar day.
