Bamasan Mountain — an extension of the Mt. Emei range, lies like a piece of jade stretching across the southern bank of the Qingyi River. With its summit at an elevation of 1,463 meters, the mountain is home to the ruins of Jianfeng Stone City, including a city gate tunnel and over 100 meters of stone wall. In 1866, locals Yin Yishan, Yin Zhongyu, and Dai Hualong established a "Heaven and Earth Altar" here to launch an uprising. The northern part of the mountain features more than 90 cliff carvings at Gouwangzhai. “Bamasan Clear Mist” is one of the Eight Scenic Views of Hongya. On the 15th day of the sixth lunar month, the temple fair at Jianfeng Temple attracts thousands of worshippers.
