Luzhou Museum

Luzhou Museum is a national AA-level tourist attraction.

Established in 1984, Luzhou Museum shares its office space with the Luzhou Cultural Relics Protection Administration, which was founded in 1980. The new building of Luzhou Museum was completed in 2000. Located at No. 37 Jiangyang West Road, it boasts convenient transportation and a pleasant environment. With a construction area of 10,500 square meters, it is one of the museums that receive key support from the National Cultural Heritage Administration. It serves as a teaching and internship base for the Central Academy of Fine Arts, Beijing Language and Culture University, Sichuan Fine Arts Institute, and Chongqing University. The museum houses the only city protection-themed exhibition hall among China’s 108 national historical and cultural cities — the “Luzhou National Historical and Cultural City Exhibition Hall” — as well as the country’s only memorial museum dedicated to Jiang Zhaohe.

Luzhou Museum currently houses a collection of over 10,000 cultural relics. Among them, its collection of ancient calligraphy and paintings ranks second in the province. The museum also displays the props used in the dragon dance performance of the “Luzhou Yutan Colorful Dragon,” a representative work of national intangible cultural heritage that received personal attention from former General Secretary Hu Jintao during its “eye-dotting” ceremony.
