Li Yuanshan’s Residence

Li Yuanshan’s Residence is located in Xiguan Village, Guhan Town, Xiangyuan County. It faces south and measures 22.45 meters from north to south and 20 meters from east to west, covering an area of approximately 449 square meters. Built in the late Qing Dynasty by the wealthy landlord Li Yuanshan, it features a single-courtyard layout with the main house and southern wing remaining along the central axis, flanked by east and west wing rooms. The main house is a brick-built cave dwelling with three arched door and window openings; the front eaves feature wood-like brick carvings of brackets and flying rafters, topped with gray tiles. Each of the east and west wing rooms has three floors, styled as shed-style lofts, spanning three bays in width and four rafters in depth, with a five-rafter framework and a single-eave flush gable roof. A door is located on the eastern side of the southern wing. This residence is relatively well-preserved, and its wood and brick carvings hold high artistic value, exhibiting strong characteristics of traditional local residential architecture.
