Donghuiyuan Jia Family Residence

The Donghuiyuan Jia Family Residence is located in Donghuiyuan Village, Houpu Town, Xiangyuan County. It faces west and measures 24.3 meters from east to west and 16.6 meters from north to south, covering an area of approximately 403 square meters. The layout consists of a single-courtyard design, with remnants of the main house and western wing along the central axis, flanked by northern and southern side rooms. The main house features three brick-constructed cave dwellings, while both the southern and northern side rooms are three bays wide, four rafters deep, with a single-eave flush-gable roof on the second floor. They are of the shed-loft architectural style, with gray tile roofing laid upward. The shed-loft style is a traditional local residential construction method, where the ground floor serves as living and daily activity space with higher ceilings, while the upper floor functions as insulation, thermal protection, and storage space with lower ceilings. The door lintels and window tops of the southern and northern rooms are adorned with exquisitely carved floral brick patterns. This residence provides tangible material for the study of local traditional folk architecture.
