Beihé Pujì Bridge

Beihé Pujì Bridge is located on Longdong River at the southern intersection of Beihé Village, Wangcun Town, Xiangyuan County. It runs from north to south, measuring 30.6 meters in length and 4.1 meters in width, covering an area of 125.46 square meters. The current railings and balusters are relics from the Ming Dynasty, while the bridge body and arches date back to the Republican era. The bridge is a single-arch stone structure with an arch opening 4.2 meters wide and 1.85 meters high. The deck is paved with gravel, and during a renovation organized by the village committee in 2005, cement was laid over the original surface. Gravel railings and balusters remain on both sides of the deck, with the characters “Longdong River” and “Pujì Bridge” engraved on the central balusters on either side. The bridge is still in use today. It provides valuable physical material for the study of local ancient bridges.

Beihé Village: General Information

Beihé Village is situated in the southern part of Wangcun Town, bordered by Diànshàng Village to the east, Xīlǐng Village to the south, Shǐshǔ Village to the west, and connected to Běiyáo Village to the north. It lies within a hilly mountainous region. The village has 112 households, with a total population of 354 people — 190 male and 164 female — and a total labor force of 205 people. There are 25 Party members. The cultivated land area spans 1,883.24 mu, and the barren land area covers 1,960.3 mu. Beihé Village is a purely agricultural community.
