Weimin Bridge

Weimin Bridge is located to the east of Niulanghe Village, Xiyingshi Town, Xiangyuan County. In 1969, educated youths from Beijing who were sent to work in the countryside came to Xiyingshi Town, Xiangyuan County. Together with local villagers, they built the bridge and originally named it “Aimin Bridge” (Bridge of Love for the People). It runs north–south and is a single-arch stone bridge. The bridge is 14 meters long and 3.5 meters wide, with a single sandstone arch beneath, which is 3 meters wide and 3.4 meters high. The bridge deck is made of red sandstone, now paved with cement. There are railings and balusters on both sides of the bridge. On the eastern side of the bridge is embedded the inscription “Self-reliance,” and on the western side is “Weimin Bridge” (Bridge for the People). The bridge is still in use today.

Xiyingshi Town: A town under the jurisdiction of Xiangyuan County. In 1958, Xiyingshi Commune was established, and in 1984 it was upgraded to a town. It is located in the northern part of the county, 27 kilometers from the county seat. Covering an area of 70 square kilometers, it has a population of 12,000.
