The Shrine of the Three Sages in Shanzheng is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Three Sages Temple serves as the central sanctuary of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. A common couplet found on either side of the main hall reads: “The three virtues of wisdom, benevolence, and courage; the unity of Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism.”

The Shrine of the Three Sages in Shanzheng is located east of Shanzheng Village, Wangqiao Town, Xiangyuan County. It faces south and features a single-courtyard layout, measuring 17.6 meters from east to west and 29.3 meters from north to south, covering an area of approximately 515.7 square meters. Its founding date is unknown, but the existing structure dates back to the Qing Dynasty. Along the central axis from south to north are the mountain gate (also serving as a theater stage) and the main hall. Symmetrically flanking the sides are one dressing tower each on the east and west, three wing rooms each on the east and west, and one side chamber each on the east and west. The main hall is built on a 1.5-meter-high bluestone platform, with a width of three bays, a depth of five rafters, and a six-rafter framework. It has a single-eave gable-and-hip roof, with three-step single-kick bracket sets at the column tops. The central bay is fitted with lattice doors, while the side bays have lattice windows. Within the temple courtyard stands a fragmented stele carved in the first year of the Kaihuang era of the Sui Dynasty (October 20, 581), measuring 0.67 meters in remaining height, 0.6 meters in width, and 0.53 meters in thickness. All four sides are inscribed in regular script, with the carving facing inward, featuring inscriptions of Buddhist images. The top of the stele is embossed with a relief depicting a muscular figure holding an offering table, flanked symmetrically by reliefs of a lion and a donor figure each. The inscription consists of 30 lines, with up to 31 characters per line. In front of the main hall lies a stone tablet from the first year of the Guangxu era (1875), inscribed with the “Village Covenant and Social Regulations” in regular script, facing inward. It contains 15 lines, with up to 20 characters per line.

Shanzheng Village is located in the southeastern part of Wangqiao Town, covering an area of about 2 square kilometers. It consists of two natural villages, with 126 households and a total population of 468 people. The cultivated land area is 1,585 mu. The main industries are agriculture and crop cultivation, with recent additions including technology-based animal husbandry.
