Jianfeng Temple

Jianfeng Temple is a cultural relic protection unit of Changzhi City.

Jianfeng Temple, also known as Baifa Temple, is located south of Nanlixin Village, Guxian Town, Xiangyuan County. It was the place where the eminent Tang Dynasty monk Yizhong, the author of the commentary on the "One Hundred Dharmas," became a monk and passed away in nirvana. The stupa southwest of the temple was built to enshrine his remains. According to inscriptions, the temple was originally constructed during the Tang Dynasty and was renovated during both the Ming and Qing Dynasties. The existing main hall and stupa are remnants from the Ming Dynasty, while the rest date to the Qing Dynasty. The layout consists of three parallel axes: the central axis currently only has the main hall remaining; the eastern axis includes a three-bay main hall, five-bay east and west wing rooms, and two-bay east and west side halls; the western axis preserves a three-bay reverse-facing theater, five-bay east and west side halls, and a three-bay east side hall. The main hall is three bays wide, six rafters deep, with a single-eave hanging gable roof, and a seven-rafter front-and-rear corridor style framework. The bracket sets atop the columns feature five-curved double downward Angs. Inside the temple, there are five Ming Dynasty stone tablets and three Qing Dynasty ones, which provide important physical materials for studying local Ming Dynasty architecture. In 2007, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural relic protection unit by the People's Government of Changzhi City.

Nanlixin Village: Nanlixin Village in Guxian Town, Xiangyuan County, is located southeast of the county town, about 2 kilometers from the county center. The eastern extension road of Guxian runs across Nanlixin Village, leading directly to the eastern outer ring road. The beautiful and spectacular East Lake lies to the west of Nanlixin Village. The area enjoys convenient transportation, open and flat terrain, and is indeed a land blessed with outstanding people and spiritual energy.
