Naluoshan Yangshao Culture Site

The Naluoshan Yangshao Culture Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Changzhi City.

The Naluoshan Yangshao Culture Site in Xiangyuan is located on the terrace along the southern bank of the Zhang River in Nanfeng Village, Guhan Town, Xiangyuan County. It stretches approximately 500 meters from north to south and about 400 meters from east to west, covering an area of 200,000 square meters, with a cultural layer 1.5–3 meters thick. The western section of the site features exposed relics such as ash pits on the terrace cliffs, and pottery shards are scattered across the surface. Collected artifacts include painted pottery shards, gray clay basins, and sandy gray clay li tripod leg fragments from the Neolithic period, as well as gray clay dou vessel fragments, and rope-patterned gray clay shards from the Shang Dynasty. The ash pits are bag-shaped, with a bottom diameter of about 2 meters and a remaining height of 1.5 meters, containing rich cultural remains. Artifacts collected include red clay bowls and jars of the Yangshao Culture’s Dasikong type, as well as sandy gray clay li tripods with rope patterns and fat bag feet, and gray clay small-mouthed urns with basket patterns from the Longshan Culture’s Xiaoshen type. In 1999, it was designated as a municipal-level cultural heritage protection unit by the People’s Government of Changzhi City.
