Riquan Mountain Scenic Area

Riquan Mountain, also known as Xiaofang Mountain or Ziyun Fort, is located in Dong Sanli, Xixing Town, Jialing District, about 5 kilometers from Nanchong. Although the scenic area is not large, it boasts unique landscapes that blend local fertility worship, longevity culture, and life culture. The mountain is composed of limestone and sandstone, with a gentle summit. Its southern side features two-tiered cliffs — the upper tier is approximately 5 meters high and 100 meters long, with a well-preserved form and dark gray color. The lower tier is also about 5 meters high, recessed inward to create an overhanging face. This cliff section is around 50 meters long and partially encircles the mountain.

On the cliffs sit two pictographic rocks, one large and one small, resembling female breasts and referred to as the Big Breast and the Small Breast. A mountain spring flows down along the “Breast Spring” rocks, considered sacred water by locals — hence the name Riquan (Breast Spring) Mountain. This mountain faces off against Dafang Mountain. At the foot lies a Taoist temple, which complements the Buddhist attractions of West Mountain, forming a mutually enriching tourism resource. The two mountains stand in distant harmony, together creating a cultural landscape pairing of “visit temples on West Mountain, seek enlightenment on Fang Mountain.”
