Zhangmuqing Township

Zhangmuqing Township in Xichang City is situated along the Anning River, about 20 kilometers from the city center, with a total area of 39.5 square kilometers. It is a key rural tourism attraction promoted by the Xichang Municipal Government as part of its "China Rural Tourism" project. The area is named "Zhangmuqing" for its lush camphor forests and picturesque green mountains and clear waters. It has long been famed for its production of cherries, yellow apricots, fragrant rice, white wax trees, and silkworm farming, especially the renowned Zhangmu Maopo cherries, which enjoy widespread popularity both within and beyond Sichuan Province.

Every early April, when the cherries ripen, visitors from near and far flock to the Zhangmu Maopo Cherry Leisure Area in Xichang City to admire the breathtaking sight of glistening, crystal-clear cherries bursting with sweet fragrance, and to enjoy the charming mountain scenery. They can also stroll beneath the fruit-laden cherry trees, tasting the bright red, juicy cherries. Local farm-style meals featuring old-fashioned cured pork, black-bone chicken, stone-ground tofu pudding, and wild mountain vegetables are also available. Visitors can relax and enjoy the cool shade under the cherry trees, engaging in leisure activities. Young couples often walk hand-in-hand along tree-lined paths, enjoying the romance of cherry season and the sweetness of love.
