Jiyang Lane Mosque is a cultural tourism attraction.

The Hui people began settling in Xichang during the Yuan Dynasty and became more prominent during the Ming and Qing Dynasties. They are now mainly distributed in traffic-accessible towns such as Gaocao, Xijiao, and Huanglian, as well as within Xichang city proper.

In Jiyang Lane of Xichang’s urban area lies the largest mosque in the Panxi region — the Xichang Jiyang Lane Mosque. Its original site was at the old west gate of the city. It was first built during the Taiding era (1324–1327 AD) of the Yuan Dynasty by over 60 Hui households who had come to Xichang to trade. In the second year of the Wanli era (1574 AD) during the Ming Dynasty, it was relocated to its current site and rebuilt. The mosque currently has seven imams and three religious teachers. In addition to celebrating traditional Chinese festivals such as Spring Festival, Dragon Boat Festival, and Mid-Autumn Festival together with the Han people, the Hui community in Xichang also observes their own major festivals — Eid al-Fitr, Mawlid al-Nabi, and Eid al-Adha. They even invite Muslim worshippers from abroad to join in the celebrations.
