Qijiang Museum

Qijiang Museum is a national AAA-level tourist attraction.

Qijiang Museum is a district-level comprehensive museum located in Group 3, Nongchang Village, Gunan Subdistrict, Qijiang District, Chongqing. It was one of the top ten “People’s Livelihood Projects” of Qijiang County in 2008, approved by the former Qijiang County Party Committee and County Government. Construction began in September 2008, the main structure was completed in 2009, the landscape project and indoor exhibition arrangement were completed in 2010, and the museum officially opened on May 18, 2011. Covering a total area of 9,967 square meters, the museum has a built-up area of 3,700 square meters, including a stone carving hall spanning 700 square meters and a landscape area of approximately 6,267 square meters. The museum houses a rich and diverse collection of exhibits, featuring many fine and remarkable pieces.

The museum features four exhibition halls: the Introductory Hall, Geological Hall, Historical and Cultural Hall, and Stone Carving Hall.

Introductory Hall: This hall provides an overview of Qijiang Museum. It displays numerous distinctive exhibits from Qijiang and serves as a window into the city’s long and rich history and culture.

Geological Hall: The Qijiang Fossilized Wood–Dinosaur Footprints National Geopark Museum was approved by the Ministry of Land and Resources in August 2009, becoming the fifth national geopark in Chongqing. The hall is divided into eight sections: the Science Popularization Area, Fossilized Wood Area, Dinosaur Footprints Area, Multimedia Area, Geological and Mineral Resources Area, Dinosaur Exhibition Area, Qijiang Area, and 4D Cinema.

Historical and Cultural Hall: This hall encapsulates the essence of Qijiang Museum, featuring seven major sections: Ancient Qijiang, Mysterious Qijiang, Revolutionary Qijiang, Local Sages of Qijiang, Brilliant Qijiang, Virtuous Qijiang, and Soaring Qijiang.

Stone Carving Hall: This hall mainly showcases exquisite folk stone carving art from the Ming Dynasty, featuring the Four Heavenly Kings, Eighteen Arhats, and the Trikaya Buddhas displaying their divine powers to bless the growth and well-being of the people of Qijiang.
