Wulongchi Forest Park

Wulongchi Forest Park is located in the Yanjingou Tourism Development Zone of Wanzhou District, Chongqing, approximately 40 kilometers from downtown Wanzhou and 10 kilometers from the Yangtze River. It is a mountainous natural scenic area.

Spanning 3.5 square kilometers and standing at an elevation of 1,123 meters, Wulongchi Forest Park, together with Xintian Reservoir and Yanjing Cave, forms the "0-Line" golden tourist route. The park features strikingly rugged peaks, bizarre rock formations, and steep mountain terrain. Its eastern and southeastern edges are lined with cliffs and crags, showcasing a variety of uniquely shaped rocks. The Crocodile Rock is remarkably lifelike, while the "Dragon-Suppressing Stone" in the center of Wulongchi resembles Mount Tai pressing down, firmly subduing the evil dragon. Other naturally formed attractions such as "Human Head Fortress," "Wulong Gully," and "Eight Immortals Table" are both magical and beautiful.

The park boasts a forest coverage rate of 95%, with 278 species of plants including conifers like Masson pine and Chinese fir, as well as broadleaf trees such as nanmu, maple, and elm. Each displays unique biological characteristics. The largest ancient chestnut tree has a diameter of over 60 centimeters, and the tallest maple tree spreads its lush foliage magnificently. The park is also home to 30 species of animals, including deer and pheasants. Strolling along the forest trails, visitors may spot startled pheasants and birds taking flight, deer, rabbits, and wildcats darting about, and nimble squirrels leaping into view.

Within the forest lies the Taiping Lake scenic area, where the Bamao Gully reservoir shimmers with rippling waters and picturesque reflections. From the observation deck atop Bajiao Fortress Mountain, one can gaze across the Yangtze River, which resembles a surging dragon. In the distance, "Lotus Pond," "Horse-Rearing Pond," and "Jianshanzi" are surrounded by continuous green mountains, with rosy clouds drifting by. Looking down, the Xintian Reservoir at the mountain’s base presents a captivating landscape of lake and mountain scenery. Ascending to higher ground offers panoramic views of drifting clouds, vast forests, rural homes with cooking smoke, and the mighty Yangtze River.
