Wang'erbao Nature Reserve

Wang'erbao Nature Reserve is located in Lishu Township, 65 kilometers from Wanzhou’s main urban area. With an average elevation of 1,200 meters, it covers an area of 7,496 hectares and has a forest stock volume of 310,000 cubic meters. The reserve is home to 1,242 species of vascular plants from 666 genera and 181 families, including 32 rare and endangered plant species. It also hosts 50 species of mammals, 93 species of birds, and 993 species of insects. Protected plant species include the dawn redwood and the southern yew, both classified as national first-class protected plants. Notable animal species include the dhole, large Indian civet, small Indian civet, spotted linsang, Lady Amherst's pheasant, and Reeves's pheasant, all of which are national second-class protected animals.

The nature reserve is shrouded in thick fog year-round, making it an ideal summer retreat and a great place to enjoy snow in winter. It serves as an excellent destination for flora and fauna research in the Three Gorges Reservoir Area, as well as a rare leisure and holiday tourism spot.
