Martyr Wu Tikuo's Tomb

Martyr Wu Tikuo's Tomb is a classic red tourism attraction.

Martyr Wu Tikuo's Tomb is located in Group 4, Xiangni Village, Guocun Town, Wanzhou District.

Wu Tikuo (1915–1934), also known as Wu Chengyuan, was a native of Dadi Village, Longsha Township, Wanxian County (now Guocun Town, Wanzhou District). In 1928, while studying at the Sichuan Provincial No. 4 Normal School, he joined the Communist Youth League, and in the autumn of 1929, he became a member of the Chinese Communist Party. He later served as the Party Branch Secretary of the Provincial No. 4 Normal School, actively organizing revolutionary activities together with other comrades. In February 1931, he was arrested by the warlord Wang Lingji stationed in Wanzhou due to betrayal by a traitor. Despite enduring severe torture, he refused to admit his identity as a Communist Party member and was taken by the enemy to Chongqing for detention. Later, after extensive efforts by his family to secure his release, he was freed from prison six months later when the authorities claimed he was “just a young student who didn’t know any better.”

After his release, Wu Tikuo returned to the Provincial No. 4 Normal School to continue his studies and his revolutionary activities. In 1933, he joined the work of the Wanzhou County Committee of the Chinese Communist Party and served as a committee member. In 1934, when the County Committee organized the second armed uprising, he mobilized students from the Provincial No. 4 Normal School and nearby farmers to join the rebellion. However, the uprising failed due to betrayal by a traitor. Wu Tikuo, along with Deng Shumin (the County Committee Secretary), He Chaoteng, Zhu Bin, and other committee members, were subsequently arrested. They endured brutal torture but remained fearless. On July 31, Wu Tikuo and others were executed by the warlord. He was only 19 years old at the time of his death.

After the liberation of Wanxian, relevant departments built a martyr’s tomb for Wu Tikuo in his hometown.
