Shaping Park

Shaping Park is located on the south side of Tianchen Road in Shapingba District, covering an area of approximately 140,000 square meters. Before the liberation, this was the private villa of Yang Ruoyu, a democratic figure. The park is lush with trees and shaded by greenery, featuring valuable tree species such as metasequoia, camphor, olive, cherry blossom, and fishtail palm. There are also large expanses of lawns and lakes within the park, along with an amusement park, an ice-skating rink, a water world, a children’s playground, tea houses, restaurants, and a hotel. It serves as a comprehensive cultural leisure park integrating relaxation, entertainment, and dining. Deep within the park lies a rarely visited site enclosed by stone walls — the only remaining cemetery from the Cultural Revolution in China, where 113 tombs house the remains of over 400 victims of the factional conflicts of that era.
