The former site of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the National Government and the former residence of Zhang Zhizhong in Chongqing is located at Sansheng Palace in Sanshenggong Village, Tuzhu Town, Shapingba District, Chongqing. It is a Qing Dynasty temple complex. With a history of over 200 years, Sansheng Palace is a religious temple integrating Confucianism, Buddhism, and Taoism. In 1939, the Political Department of the Military Commission of the National Government relocated here. During the War of Resistance against Japan, General Zhang Zhizhong, a renowned patriotic leader of the Kuomintang and then head of the Political Department, resided and worked here, making significant contributions to the national anti-Japanese united front. The entire architectural complex faces west and consists of a mountain gate, front hall (front chamber), theater stage, Huangjin Hall, and left and right wing rooms. It has a double-enclosure layout, primarily built with wooden post-and-lintel structures, supplemented by rammed earth walls and gable roof frames. Covering a total area of 5,536 square meters with a built-up area of 1,578 square meters, the well-preserved complex vividly reflects the historical layout and appearance of the time. It authentically represents the historical context and environment of key events and figures during the War of Resistance, holding significant historical value. As a precious heritage resource from the war, a historic memorial site, an important cultural attraction in Chongqing, and a base for patriotic education, it plays a positive role in promoting local social culture and economic development.

In May 2013, the former site of the Political Department of the Military Commission of the National Government and the former residence of Zhang Zhizhong in Chongqing was designated as part of the Seventh Batch of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units.
