Fenjiezhou Island Scenic Area is a national AAAAA-level tourist attraction.

Fenjiezhou Island is located in the Niuling Tourism Development Zone of Xiangshui Bay, Lingshui County. It is about 18 kilometers from Lingshui County town. As the island lies at 110°11′47″ east longitude and 18°34′51″ north latitude, precisely at the climate dividing line between the northern and southern parts of Hainan Island, it is called Fenjiezhou Island. Owing to this special geographical location, the climate on the island is quite unique — gloomy, rainy weather often prevails in the north, while the south enjoys bright and enchanting sunshine.

Fenjiezhou Island has long been known as the “Fairyland of Penglai.” Surrounded by blue seas, the island is covered year-round with lush shrubs and shaded woods, filled with birdsong and floral fragrance. The island also features attractions such as Fugui Bay, Shougui Beach, Lugui Ridge, “Limitless Future,” and the mountaintop theme park. Visitors can hike up to enjoy the view, explore the sea to catch crabs and shells, cruise around the island by boat, or even adventure into the mysterious underwater world. It is an ideal destination for sightseeing, leisure, and entertainment.

Owing to Fenjiezhou Island’s unique location, distinct climate changes, distinctive terrain, and vibrant regional culture, the island has since ancient times been praised as “Fenjie Island,” “Beauty Island,” “Ma’an Ridge,” and “Sleeping Buddha Island.” Being there brings a sense of peace and inspiration. From the East Expressway and the Eastern High-Speed Railway encircling the island, one can see the full view of Fenjiezhou Island nestled in the blue sea.

A divine and beautiful land that divides the north and south. The stunning Fenjiezhou Island marks the climate boundary between the northern and southern parts of Hainan. It also serves as an important cultural divide between the regions inhabited by ethnic minorities such as the Li, Miao, and Hui peoples, and the Han people on the island. It represents the natural geographic borderline between northeastern and southwestern Hainan, the old administrative boundary between Qiongzhou Prefecture in the north and Yazhou Prefecture in the south, and the present-day administrative division between Lingshui County and Wanning City. Most importantly, it is a “spiritual dividing line” that allows visitors to refresh their minds and reflect on life.

Although the entire Hainan Island is located in the tropics, the north-south oriented Niuling Mountain creates certain climatic differences on either side. The climate north of the ridge is relatively warmer, with higher air humidity and more rainfall, while the south side is about two to three degrees warmer, sunnier, but drier with less rain. Looking at both sides of Niuling from Fenjiezhou Island, you can often witness such scenes: in summer, heavy rain pours over the north side, while the south basks in brilliant sunshine; in winter, the north is gloomy and overcast, whereas the south remains sunny and bright.

Hainan Fenjiezhou Island Tourist Area opened on May 1, 2004, and was rated as a National 5A-level Tourist Attraction by the China National Tourism Administration in January 2013, becoming China’s first island-type national 5A-level scenic spot.

Fenjiezhou Island offers a wide variety of activities, including: (1) Recreational Activities: premium scuba diving, coral reef diving, fish reef diving, adventure diving, cliff diving, cave diving, wreck diving, semi-submarine sightseeing, coral viewing cruises, underwater walking, and underwater photography; (2) Marine Recreational Activities: parasailing, jet skiing, speedboats, and banana boat rides; (3) Beach Leisure: sea bathing, beach foot baths, beach music bars, and beach fruit bars.

Gate Price: 168 RMB. Seniors over 70, military personnel, and people with disabilities can enjoy a discounted price of 138 RMB/person at the scenic area;

2. Children between 1.2–1.4 meters, seniors aged 60–69 (with ID), and students with valid student IDs can enjoy a discounted price of 153 RMB/person at the scenic area;

3. For the Marine Culture Museum, children under 1.2 meters can enter free of charge; no discounts apply to other groups.

A. High-Speed Rail

Purchase a ticket to “Lingshui” at Sanya Railway Station, then take the scenic area shuttle bus right outside Lingshui Railway Station. The 15-minute ride will take you directly to Fenjiezhou Island.

B. Hainan Public Transport Bus

On-site Ticket Purchase: Buy a ticket to “Lingshui” (18 RMB/person) at Sanya Bus Terminal (located between Jiefang Road Pedestrian Street and Wanghao Supermarket in Sanya), then take the dedicated Fenjiezhou Island shuttle bus from Lingshui Bus Station to reach the scenic area.
