The Riyue Bay Haimen Scenic Area is a national AAA-level tourist attraction. Located by the sea at Riyue Bay in Wanning City, Hainan Province, it is 168 km from Haikou, 87 km from Sanya, and just 500 meters from the Riyue Bay entrance of the East Expressway. It is a scenic area that showcases distinctive natural marine culture (Haimen rock formations) and Taiwanese cultural elements. In 1992, the municipal government designated this area as a tourist zone, and it opened to the public in 1998. The Riyue Bay Haimen Scenic Area is divided into two parts: Haimen Park and the Taiwan Folk Culture Tourist Area (Taiwan Village). Haimen Park features main attractions and supporting services such as the Haimen Wonder, Coconut Grove Leisure Plaza, Dragon King Tripod, beach entertainment, and horseback riding along the shore. The Taiwan Folk Culture Tourist Area is organized around a meandering stream, connecting various attractions organically — including the “Everlasting” Archway, Mist Fountain, Grandma’s House, Taiwan Orchid Garden, Pangu Palm, Artificial Waterfall, Happy Coconut Grove, Cultural Performances, and the Chinese Dragon — blending both static and dynamic scenic elements. The Areca Garden also includes a Formosan Aboriginal Singing Pavilion, Coconut Leaf Instrument Pavilion, Mountain and Sea Vows, Formosan Aboriginal Houses, the Nine Ethnic Groups Cultural Hall, the Coconut Breeze and Sea Charm area, and a Formosan Aboriginal Song and Dance Performance Stage.
