Located in the southeastern part of Wanning City, Hainan Province, about thirty kilometers from the county seat. At 110.5 degrees east longitude and 18.5 degrees north latitude, an area of thirty square kilometers centered around Shimei Bay includes several developed and developing tourist destinations such as Dongshan Ridge, Xinglong Hot Springs, the Sun River, Shenzhou Peninsula, Dazhou Island, Riyue Bay, and Yangmei Bay. The planned southern fiber-optic communication system of Hainan Island also designates Shimei Bay as a central hub. Its strategic geographical location and role as a transport and communication hub establish Shimei Bay as the tourism center along the southeastern coastline of Hainan Province.

Shimei Bay is located in Xinglong. It is a pristine tropical landscape, surrounded by mountains on three sides and facing the sea on one. With beautiful mountain formations, the long beach of Shimei Bay features two peaks jutting out into the sea at either end. The bay is richly vegetated, with vast areas of coconut groves, rubber plantations, and other tropical crops. The contrast between coconut trees and betel palms adds to the charm. White sands, blue seas, blue skies, and drifting clouds form a natural painting, further enhanced by green plum belts, streams, lakes, scenic islets, unique rocks, gentle waves, and soft sands—truly breathtaking. The bay is usually calm and wave-free, with a beach stretching about seven kilometers along the coast and water depths of no more than three meters within a hundred-meter range. The area enjoys eternal spring—no harsh winters—with abundant sunshine and fresh air, making it perfect for sightseeing, vacationing, and long-stay recuperation. The clear waters and pure sands, together with the tranquil sea, lend themselves ideally to the development of a marine-themed leisure and resort destination celebrating tropical ocean culture.

Not far from the opposite triangular area lies a beautiful island called Jiajing Island. The shoreline is embraced by foamy waves and dotted with white seagulls; the island is home to exotic flowers and plants, as well as uniquely shaped rocks. The Shimei Bay beach stretches about six kilometers, and naturally growing there is the world’s largest remaining tract of a rare forest—Qingpi (green skin) mangrove forest—covering 14,000 mu. This forest has been protected and valued since the Qing Dynasty, with an official prohibition stele erected in the 27th year of Emperor Guangxu’s reign (1901), which still stands on the coastal beach. The Qingpi forest not only brings fresh air to Shimei Bay but also enriches the scenery with vibrant life. It has been designated as a national nature reserve.

Shimei Bay is known for its coffee production, so coffee shops line every street and alley. It’s truly rare to find a café so close to the sea, and even better, it’s one of the best spots to watch the sunset. Developers have taken notice of this place, and signs at the entrance indicate that Shimei Bay is currently open to the public free of charge. Come and enjoy this peaceful seaside before it becomes too popular.
