Wanquan's Laoye Sea

As the second-largest lagoon and inland sea in Wanquan, Laoye Sea covers a total area of 9.8 square kilometers, with a tidal flat area of about 1.2 square kilometers. The sea is long and narrow in shape, resembling an ancient silver hairpin tucked into a woman’s bun—so locals have given it the wonderfully apt nickname “a single strip of sea.”

The surface of Laoye Sea is calm, shimmering with a light green hue. Here, you’ll find fishing boats of all sizes, small fish rafts with boxed aquaculture, and large nets spread out for catching mackerel. Throughout the sea, there are also small enclosures formed by wooden stakes—these are used to farm the seaweed that Wanquan locals love most. The famous seafood of Laoye Sea has also brought thriving business to the local fish rafts.
