The General Zhang Yunyi Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.

The General Zhang Yunyi Memorial Hall is a patriotic education base in Hainan Province, a revolutionary tradition education base for youths in Hainan Province, and a national defense and double support education base in Wenchang City. It is located at No. 51 Wenjian Road, Wencheng Town, Wenchang City. The management unit is the Wenchang Municipal Civil Affairs Bureau.

The General Zhang Yunyi Memorial Hall was jointly funded and built in 1992 by the People's Government of Hainan Province and the People's Government of Wenchang County. It covers an area of 12 mu. Its main gate has a two-tiered roof adorned with emerald-green glazed tiles, and the central lintel bears the gilded characters "Zhang Yunyi Memorial Hall" inscribed by Nie Rongzhen. In the center of the courtyard stands a full-body bronze statue of Zhang Yunyi in military uniform, standing five meters tall. The front of the base is engraved with the words "General Zhang Yunyi" inscribed by Peng Zhen, while the back of the base features a biography of Zhang Yunyi written by the CPC Hainan Provincial Committee and the People's Government of Hainan Province. Behind the statue is a clear water pool, over which a stone bridge leads directly to the Zhang Yunyi Exhibition Room. The two-story exhibition room has the words "Exhibition Room of the Life of General Zhang Yunyi" inscribed on the central lintel, penned by Ye Fei. The building has a construction area of 256.2 square meters and is made of reinforced concrete. Inside the exhibition room are displayed 152 photos, charts, and paintings from Zhang Yunyi’s student days and various revolutionary periods, 88 manuscripts, 48 physical objects, as well as important directives, orders, and inscriptions from Mao Zedong and other Party and state leaders.

On the south side of the exhibition room is a corridor along the wall, where inscriptions from national leaders are engraved. On the north side is a reception room. In the front garden of the memorial hall, there are three pavilions of different styles, and many trees and flowers such as cypress, monkey puzzle tree, lac tree, banyan, fan palm, and feather palm have been planted in the courtyard.

Zhang Yunyi (1892–1974) was a member of the Central Military Commission of the Communist Party of China, a general of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, a proletarian revolutionary, and a military strategist. His original name was Zhang Yunyi, also known as Zhang Shengzhi. He was from Shangliao Village, Touyuan Town. Born into a poor farming family, he attended the village private school at the age of seven, studied diligently, and consistently ranked at the top of his class. After graduating from primary school, due to financial constraints, he could not continue his education. To make a living, he went to Guangzhou to stay with his fellow villager Zhao Shihuai, an officer, and worked as a handyman.
