Ma'anling Volcanic Crater is located within the Haikou Shishan Volcano Cluster National Geopark in the western part of Haikou City, and is named for its saddle-like shape. A "Sea-View Pavilion" has been built on the ridge, offering visitors a view of the undulating waters of the Qiongzhou Strait, a close-up look at the true form of the volcanic crater, and a panoramic sight of the beautiful lychee orchards stretching for hundreds of miles. Ma'anling Volcanic Crater is the largest among the volcanic craters formed during eruptions that occurred between 27,000 and 1 million years ago, and is also one of the most well-preserved dormant volcanic craters in the world. The northern peak has an elevation of 222.2 meters, with a crater diameter of 220 meters and a depth of 90 meters, while the southern peak stands at 186.75 meters above sea level. Surrounding it are over 30 standalone hills of various sizes, all formed by volcanic eruptions as craters or cones, which echo the Ma'anling crater from afar, together forming a cluster of cone-shaped peaks centered around Ma'anling...
