The Pei Clan Tombs (Classified as a Provincial-Level Cultural Heritage Site in Batch 3)

Era: Han, Tang, Song Dynasties

Location: 300 meters southeast of Cangdi Village, Dongzhen Town, Wenxi County

According to the 1875 edition of the Wenxi County Annals, “The area of Fenghuang Plateau spans dozens of square li and serves as the ancestral burial ground of the prestigious Pei clan of the Three Jin.” The tombs are scattered across the Fenghuang Plateau, which stretches 10 meters from east to west and 8 kilometers from north to south, and remain unexcavated. The burial mounds rise like small hills, numbering over two hundred. In 1986, the tomb of Pei Hao, an official of the Ministry of Personnel during the Tang Dynasty, was discovered here. The tomb passage is 39 meters long with four sky wells. Over twenty pieces (some fragmented) of painted pottery figurines of soldiers and horses, two porcelain jars, and two epitaphs were unearthed.
