Shazi Ancient Street

Shazi Ancient Street: Constructed during the Guangxu period of the Qing Dynasty, Shazi Ancient Street spans 1.8 kilometers and retains more than 400 vividly traditional Ming and Qing-style buildings. The central part of the street is paved with horizontally laid large bluestone slabs, while the sides are paved with vertically arranged long bluestone slabs. The Shazi Pawnshop occupies 450 square meters and is built entirely from large stone blocks and blue bricks. With seven floors and a height of over 30 meters, it is a representative of Guilin’s traditional pawnbroking culture. The Shazi Stone Arch Bridge is located on the Longzui River in Shazi and was built in the third year of the Xuantong reign of the Qing Dynasty. It was jointly constructed by the Guangdong Guild Hall and the Hunan Guild Hall. The bridge preserves over 10 exquisitely carved stone reliefs and is a key cultural relic under protection in Pingle County. The annual traditional folk culture festival of Shazi is held on the 13th day of the fifth lunar month.
