Pearl Plaza

Pearl Plaza is a cultural landmark located in the middle section of the Cross-Sea Bridge in Fangchenggang City. The Cross-Sea Bridge was built in 2003 and spans the West Bay of Fangchenggang, starting from Yiwandao in the east, crossing Longkongdun in the middle, and connecting to Huangdiling in the west, with a total length of 2,600 meters and a width of 24 meters on the western side of the bridge. The completion of the bridge reduced the distance from Fangchenggang to the border town of Dongxing from 70 kilometers to 40 kilometers, and the high-grade highway from Nanning to Fangchenggang leads directly to the border, turning the centuries-old dream of “immortals building a bridge over Longkong, generals stepping on Ma’anshan” into reality. It plays an important role in implementing the Western Development Strategy, revitalizing border areas and enriching local people, building a well-off society in an all-round way, and constructing a bridgehead for the China-ASEAN Free Trade Area.

The plaza is situated in the middle section of the Cross-Sea Bridge. At its center stands a shining pearl and leaping dragon emblem symbolizing the Twin Dragons Playing with a Pearl, known as the [Dragon Pearl Altar]. The pearl is 12.88 meters high and 8.99 meters in diameter, intricately carved from 230 pieces of granite selected from the renowned stone capital of Huian in Fujian Province. The design is unique and rich in meaning, offering a delightful view over the sea. The plaza is surrounded by the sea on all sides, providing an elegant environment. When night falls, the lights twinkle, creating an extraordinarily beautiful scene. The plaza has now become an important place for leisure and sightseeing.
