Wanwei Golden Beach

Wanwei Golden Beach is located on Wanwei Island, Wutou Island, and Shanxin Island—the three islands of the Jing ethnic group in Dongxing City. It lies at the southwesternmost tip of China’s mainland coastline, with the Jing ethnic group as the primary residents. Among these, the Golden Beach on Wanwei Island is the most famous, boasting a 10-kilometer-long shoreline that combines fine sand, calm waves, gentle slopes, and warm waters. The area is pollution-free, with crystal-clear seawater, and is another popular coastal tourist destination in Guangxi following Beihai Silver Beach.

Accommodation: You can stay at the nearby Golden Beach Hotel within the scenic area, or opt to stay in Dongxing City. Around Jiefang Road in Dongxing, there are many affordable hostels, all priced under 100 RMB, making them ideal for backpackers.

Dining: The food stalls near Golden Beach serve delicious seafood congee and Jing-style fried rice noodles. Jellyfish soup is widely available—some travelers may not be accustomed to its taste at first, but it’s worth savoring slowly to fully appreciate its unique flavor.

Entertainment: Summer visitors can enjoy traditional Jing ethnic entertainment such as the “singing of Ha,” bamboo pole dancing, playing the đàn bầu (one-stringed lute), casting large fishing nets, and releasing shrimp lanterns.

Transportation: Take a bus from Fangchenggang Bus Station to Dongxing City, then transfer to the Dongxing–Wanwei shuttle bus to reach Wanwei Golden Beach. The journey takes just 15 minutes.
