Jiangna Mandarin Duck Pool

Jiangna Mandarin Duck Pool is located in Dongxing City, under the jurisdiction of Fangchenggang in Guangxi Province, about 6 kilometers from downtown Dongxing.

Legend has it that long, long ago, there was a young couple—the man was named Ajiang and the woman, Ana. They were drifting along the Beilun River border when suddenly, thunder roared, lightning flashed, and a torrential downpour began. The wooden raft they were on was overturned, and the two were swept apart. Struggling in the water, they kept slapping the surface while calling out each other’s names. The spots where they slapped suddenly turned into one large and one small pool. Thanks to these pools, they were spared from being washed away by the rapid currents. The young couple, having survived the ordeal, made their way ashore, built a thatched cottage, started a family, and raised children. Generation after generation, they thrived, eventually forming a sizable village. Later generations named the village Jiangna in honor of the two, and the two pools became known as the Mandarin Duck Pools.

Today, the site of Ajiang and Ana’s former thatched cottage has been transformed into the Mandarin Duck Pool Resort. Situated within the resort, the Beilun River—forming the border between China and Vietnam—gently winds around the mountains. Lush trees line both banks, rain mist veils the green ridges, high peaks connect with verdant fields, and the interplay of mountains and water under a pale gray hue creates a hazy, dreamlike scene akin to an ink-wash landscape painting.

At Mandarin Duck Pool, the mountains, waters, and sky blend into one. The hills are a sea of green; the waters, clear and jade-like. Being here feels like stepping into a fairyland.
