China-Vietnam Friendship Park

China-Vietnam Friendship Park is located on the southwestern side of Dongxing City, under the jurisdiction of Fangchenggang in Guangxi Province, adjacent to the Beilun River, the border river between China and Vietnam. Established in 1958 to commemorate the friendship forged in blood between the people of China and Vietnam during their liberation struggles, it was thus named the “China-Vietnam Friendship Park.”

The China-Vietnam Friendship Park spans a total area of 260 acres. Verdant vegetation grows in scattered clusters along the gentle slopes. At the highest point in the center of the park stands the “Monument to the Revolutionary Martyrs of China and Vietnam,” built to honor those who sacrificed their lives in the war to aid Vietnam. The front and back of the monument are inscribed in both Chinese and Vietnamese with the words “Glorious People’s Heroes Live Forever.” The front and back of the base also bear the names of Chinese martyrs who died in the war against France and in support of Vietnam, engraved in both languages. Within the park are two friendship trees planted in 1960 from seeds gifted by President Ho Chi Minh of Vietnam. On a small hill to the south of the park lie the graves of six martyrs, including Chen Handong, who bravely gave their lives in the Liberation War. The park features a 26-acre lake with a pavilion in the center. In summer, sitting in the pavilion, one is greeted by sunlight and the sounds of cicadas filtering through the round fronds of palm trees, evoking a quintessential tropical southern ambiance.

China-Vietnam Friendship Park, established to commemorate the friendship forged in blood between the two nations, stands as a testament to the friendly relations between China and Vietnam.
