Longzhou Uprising Memorial Hall
The Longzhou Uprising Memorial Hall is a classic red tourism destination and a patriotic education base.
The Longzhou Uprising Memorial Hall, originally named the Revolutionary Memorial Hall of the Eighth Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, was established on February 1, 1985. In 2001, with the care and support of the leaders of the Autonomous Region Party Committee and the Autonomous Region People’s Government, the memorial hall was relocated to “Zhongyu” Slope in the eastern part of the county town. It covers a total area of 7.69 hectares, with a building area of 5,436 square meters. Located at the southern end of the Memorial Square, it was completed and renamed the Longzhou Uprising Memorial Hall on August 19, 2004.
The museum houses a large number of precious revolutionary relics and historical materials from the time of the Longzhou Uprising and the Eighth Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army. The special exhibition “Red Longzhou” is divided into 21 sections, with an exhibition line stretching over 680 meters. It displays more than 400 three-dimensional relics and over 800 two-dimensional cultural relics, images, and charts. The content is rich and detailed, fully reflecting the glorious struggle of the Longzhou Uprising and the Eighth Army against imperialism and feudalism, as well as the great achievements of the people of all ethnic groups in the Left River region who fought courageously and continuously for the victory of the democratic revolution. In terms of presentation, the exhibition breaks away from traditional methods by utilizing cultural relics, photographic materials, scene reconstructions, and other forms to enhance the overall effect. It serves as an important venue for patriotic and revolutionary tradition education, as well as a great place for tourism and sightseeing.
On February 1, 1930, revolutionary predecessors such as -, Li Mingrui, and Yu Zuoyu led and launched the world-shocking Longzhou Uprising in Longzhou. They established the Eighth Army of the Chinese Workers’ and Peasants’ Red Army, formed the Left River Revolutionary Committee, and set up a revolutionary base area in the Left River region. This base spanned over ten counties, covered an area of 13,000 square kilometers, and had a population of several hundred thousand. The Longzhou Uprising was an armed uprising independently led by the Chinese Communist Party during the Agrarian Revolutionary War, where the people of various ethnicities, mainly the Zhuang, bravely resisted the -. It represented a successful exploration by comrades such as - in following the correct path of encircling the cities from the countryside and seizing political power through armed struggle. Together with the Nanchang Uprising, the Autumn Harvest Uprising, and the Guangzhou Uprising, it painted a magnificent historical picture during the Agrarian Revolutionary War. It was a great practice of the Chinese Communist Party independently leading revolutionary wars and establishing a people’s army. On the southwestern frontier of the motherland, it raised a brilliant banner of worker-peasant armed separatism, wrote a victorious chapter of unity and struggle among the Zhuang, Han, Yao, and other ethnic groups, and holds significant historical importance in the history of the Chinese revolution and even modern Guangxi history.
The Longzhou Uprising was the only uprising during the Agrarian Revolutionary War led by the Chinese Communist Party that upheld the banner of anti-imperialism. It dealt a heavy blow to the arrogance of French imperialists, demonstrated to the world the unyielding iron will of the Chinese people in the face of -, boosted the morale of the Chinese people in their fight against imperialism, and fulfilled the anti-imperialist platform of the Chinese Communist Party. It marked the beginning of a new era in the Chinese revolution.
