Hill 311 is a classic red tourism attraction.

Located northwest of Shuikou Town, Longzhou County, Guangxi, about 2 kilometers from the town government seat, it is also known as the "Fengcun Fort." After the Sino-French War, Su Yuanchun, the superintendent of Guangxi border defense, spent nearly twenty years establishing a series of national defense facilities such as forts, passes, checkpoints, and artillery batteries along the Sino-Vietnamese border to safeguard the frontier. The Fengcun Fort was built in the 19th year of the Guangxu reign of the Qing Dynasty (1893) and is one of the larger installations among these. Hill 311, standing at an elevation of 311 meters, was later occupied by a border defense unit in 1979, which renovated, reinforced, and expanded the original facilities, renaming it Hill 311. There are a total of 622 steps leading from the foot to the top of the hill. There are six main and auxiliary artillery batteries built on several peaks of varying heights within a 1-square-kilometer area around the site, facing Vietnam across the river. From the heights, visitors can enjoy panoramic views of the landscapes on both sides of the Sino-Vietnamese border river and sights on the Vietnamese side. The fort was originally equipped with a Krupp cannon made in Germany. With the normalization of relations between China and Vietnam, the border defense unit voluntarily withdrew from Hill 311, leaving behind this valuable military structure, which has since become an excellent site for patriotic education. Today, Hill 311 has developed into a well-known tourist and leisure destination in Longzhou County, with comprehensive facilities including parking, dining, and entertainment. During holidays, it attracts large numbers of visitors for tourism and relaxation.
