Zhaoxing Ancient Tombs Cluster (Third Batch of Provincial-Level Protected Sites)

Era: Eastern Zhou – Han Dynasty

Location: Between Zhaoxing, Xiaochao, and Xicun villages in the northern urban area of Yongji City

The ancient tomb cluster extends 100 meters west of the Yonglin Highway, reaches the Xiaochao Highway to the south, lies 100 meters south of Xicun Village to the north, and stretches to the east of Xicun Village, covering an area of 9 square kilometers. The tombs span the Eastern Zhou, Qin, and Han dynasties. Tombs from the Eastern Zhou period are vertical pit earth graves, with burial styles featuring supine straight-limb positions; the unearthed artifacts are mostly sets of tripods, dou vessels, and hu vessels. Han Dynasty tombs are mostly brick-chambered graves, dating to the Eastern Han period, often containing glazed pottery granaries, hu vessels, stoves, as well as domestic fowl and livestock. Most of the tombs were looted and damaged in early periods.
