According to legend, the ancient city was built by Zhibo, one of the Six Ministers of the Jin State during the Spring and Autumn Period. The city walls are relatively well-preserved, standing 4–5 meters high, with a perimeter of 4.65 kilometers and a total of nine city gates. The upper part of the wall is 4 meters wide, while the base is 15 meters wide, with clearly visible rammed layers that are 0.08 meters thick, and the soil contains pottery fragments.

In 2019, the Ruins of the Ancient City of Jiejiang were included in the eighth batch of Major Historical and Cultural Sites Protected at the National Level.

Gucheng Village: Gucheng Village serves as the western gateway to Kaizhang Town. It borders Wuxinghu Farm to the south, the northern urban area of Yongji City to the west, and Kaola Town of Yongji City to the north. The village consists of three natural villages, with eight resident groups, 511 households, 1,788 residents, and 4,900 mu of arable land. It is a labor-export-oriented village primarily engaged in traditional agriculture such as corn and wheat, supplemented by migrant work and business.

Gucheng Village has a history of over a thousand years. In summer, when viewed from above, the lush green of the village resembles a giant green turtle.
