Introduction

The Ancient City of the Tang and Song Dynasties is located in Tianchang Town in the central part of Jingxing. During the Tang Dynasty, it was called Tianchang Military Town; from the Later Jin of the Five Dynasties to the Song Dynasty, it was known as Tianwei Military Town; and from the Jin Dynasty until 1958, it served as the county seat of Jingxing. The stone city wall built during the Jiajing reign of the Ming Dynasty is largely well-preserved, stretching approximately 2,000 meters. Within the city, the east, west, south gates, and the Small South Gate, as well as the Confucian Temple, the Temple of the City God, and the former residence of Huo Peng, who was the Right Vice Censor of the Ming Dynasty and Governor of Datong, have been preserved relatively intact to this day.
