Ping’an Temple is located at Fengshui’ao, the junction between Dashacun Village in Shuizhai Town, Wuhua County, Meizhou City, Guangdong Province, and Lianxincun Village in Diaofang Town, Xingning City. Originally built during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty, it has a history of over 500 years, boasts a long-standing heritage and widespread renown.

This area is embraced by mountains, gathering spiritual energy and symbolizing good fortune—an auspicious feng shui site where the Buddha and Bodhisattvas are believed to be incredibly responsive, drawing a constant flow of worshippers from all directions. On the first and fifteenth days of each lunar month and during major temple events, the place becomes bustling with activity—cars line up, incense smoke curls upward, and the sounds of bells and drums resonate, creating a lively and solemn atmosphere. It is a thriving sacred site where devoted pilgrims come with faith and leave with satisfaction. Truly, “those who come find peace, and those who worship gain blessings.”

In the spring of 1995, Ping’an Temple was officially registered and opened under the Wuhua County Religious Affairs Bureau. In 1998, its expansion was approved by the city and county religious affairs departments. In January 2002, the foundation was laid for a large-scale expansion project. After several years of effort, the temple’s area expanded from the original 200 square meters to over 30,000 square meters today.

Over the past few years, guided by the Party and government’s religious policies, Director Xue Gaohua, a lay Buddhist practitioner, led the management team in embodying the spirit of dedicated monks. Through extensive fundraising efforts totaling nearly 10 million yuan, they constructed the Mahavira Hall, Heavenly King Hall, Bell Tower, Drum Tower, Medicine Buddha Hall, Amitabha Hall, Great Compassion Hall, Guanyin Pavilion, Ksitigarbha Pavilion, Dining Hall, Monks’ Quarters, Mountain Gate, corridors, parking lot, and more. These developments have gradually improved the temple’s facilities and completely renewed its appearance. Ping’an Temple now enjoys an elegant environment with ancient and naturally beautiful architecture.

In this serene and solemn Buddhist sanctuary, devotees can not only fulfill their wishes of chanting scriptures, worshiping the Buddha, cultivating good karma, and praying for safety and blessings, but also appreciate the artistry of the temple’s architecture and enjoy a leisurely, joyful visit.
