The Tang Dynasty Wind-Moving Stele (The Stele Commemorating the Achievements and Governance of Prince Qinghe of the Great Tang) is a National Key Cultural Relics Protection Unit.
The Stele Commemorating the Achievements and Governance of Prince Qinghe of the Great Tang, commonly known as the “Wind-Moving Stele,” is located on the west side of Jiefang Street in Zhengding County, Hebei Province. It was erected in the second year of the Yongtai era of the Tang Dynasty (766 AD).
The stele stands 6 meters tall, is 2.5 meters wide, and 0.48 meters thick. The top of the stele is inscribed with twelve large characters: “The Stele Commemorating the Achievements and Governance of Prince Qinghe of the Great Tang.” The main body of the inscription is written in regular script, comprising 29 lines and a total of 1,398 characters, of which 1,007 characters are still preserved. The content praises the “merits and virtues” of Li Baochen, the military governor of Chengdu at the time, as well as the names and official titles of those who erected the stele.
The inscription on the stele preserves valuable historical information about the politics and military affairs of the Hebei region during the Tang Dynasty, making it of significant historical research value. The calligraphy of the inscription is vigorous and has been highly praised by scholars throughout the ages. In 2001, the Stele Commemorating the Achievements and Governance of Prince Qinghe of the Great Tang was included in the fifth group of National Key Cultural Relics Protection Units by the State Council.
