Western Yangshao Culture Site

The Western Yangshao Culture Site is a cultural heritage protection unit of Hebei Province.

The Western Yangshao Culture Site is located about 500 meters west of Xiyang Village. The site stretches approximately 120 meters from north to south and 100 meters from east to west, with a large earthen mound in the center that rises about 10 meters high. Atop the mound there was once a temple, commonly known as Geda Temple, which no longer exists. Only the stele inscription "Record of the Reconstruction of Xinglong Temple" from the eighth year of the Kangxi reign (1669) remains.

Judging from the surface of the site, its contents are relatively limited — no complete artifacts have been found. Only red pottery shards painted with black pigments from the Yangshao period, gray pottery rims and conical feet from the Shang Dynasty, and gray pottery shards from the Warring States Period discovered in the fields north of the mound have been unearthed.

In 1956, the People's Government of Hebei Province designated the Western Yangshao Culture Site as a key cultural relics protection unit.
