The "Wushui Dragging Blue" scenic wonder created by the Wushui River occurs after heavy rains, when the fast-flowing water from the upper reaches of the Wushui rapidly cuts through sandy shoals, turning the water murky. When it meets its tributary, the Shaxi River, it forms a strikingly distinct landscape where the "floodwaters" and the "azure waves" remain clearly separated. Sun Binglie, a native of Linwu from the Qing Dynasty, once composed a poem titled "Wushui Dragging Blue": "There is indeed a separate stream that can cross directly, / Letting the new floodwaters bear their own weight. / Who drags a white silk ribbon through the blue-black hills? / As if the Milky Way divides the azure sky."
