Zhao Nanxing Ancestral Hall

Zhao Nanxing Ancestral Hall is a cultural heritage site protected by Hebei Province.

Zhao Nanxing Ancestral Hall is located south of Zhaojia Street in Dongguan, Gaoyi County. It stretches 26.8 meters from north to south and is 8.45 meters wide, featuring two rows of tiled houses. The northern row consists of one entrance hall room, with one side chamber on each side; the southern row is the main hall topped with clay tiles and a flush gable roof. The main hall connects to a high gate tower wall, forming a small square courtyard in between. The courtyard is planted with pine and cypress trees and features a small circular flower bed. In front of the ancestral hall, there is a 1.5-meter-high surrounding wall equipped with an iron gate.

Originally called the Zhao Family Ancestral Hall, it was the family shrine of Zhao Nanxing, who served as Minister of Personnel during the Tianqi era of the Ming Dynasty. It was first built during the Hongwu era of the Ming Dynasty. In the first year of the Jiaqing reign in the Qing Dynasty, the flat roof was replaced with a clay tile flush gable roof. In the 13th year of the Republic of China (1924), the provincial government allocated funds for renovation. In 1982, the Shijiazhuang Regional Cultural Relics Office provided 4,000 yuan to support the repairs. In 1983, the county government replaced all the brick walls of the eastern side chamber of the northern entrance hall and renewed the entire roof of the northern house. Repairs were made to damaged parts of the southern main hall, all doors, niches, and the wooden boards under the eaves were repainted, restoring the structure to its original condition.
