Gaocheng Water Park

The water park is located in the western part of the urban area. Completed in May 1994, it is a large comprehensive venue in the city that integrates leisure, entertainment, fitness, and science education. It covers an area of 105,000 square meters, including a water surface of 27,000 square meters, green space of 59,000 square meters, and a greening rate of 82%. The square occupies 19,000 square meters. Since 1994, it has received over 2 million visitors.

The park has planted 35 species of trees totaling more than 5,700, 43 species of flowering shrubs totaling 145,000, over 50,000 square meters of lawn, and hedges extending over 3,500 meters. There are 24 designed graphic areas such as the “Olympic Symbol,” “Welcome,” and “Large Circle,” as well as 17 distinctive gardens including the Cherry Blossom Garden, Peach Blossom Grove, and Peony Garden. The park also features nine types of recreational facilities such as colorful boats, fishing spots, roller skating rinks, and children’s playgrounds, along with nine types of fitness equipment.

In 2000, an investment of over 1.7 million yuan was made to carry out a major renovation of the water park. Then, in August 2002, an additional investment of over 4.3 million yuan was used to construct the East Gate Green Square, covering an area of 16,000 square meters. More than 76,000 precious tree species such as ginkgo, plane trees, and maple trees, as well as various flowers and plants, were planted, highlighting the theme of “green shade.” The 7.5-meter stainless steel entrance emblem symbolizes the prosperity and good fortune of Gaocheng’s 750,000 residents. The square also features four premium scenic spots including a fountain, mist fountain, and water mist walkway, creating a fairy-tale-like experience and adding a modern cultural atmosphere to the plaza.

In May 2006, an investment of 38,000 yuan was made to complete the greening renovation of the square on the west side of the South Gate. The ground tiles were removed, 2,400 square meters were planted with white clover, 135 meters of road and 270 meters of curb were laid, and over 9,000 plants such as red-leafed dwarf bushes, boxwoods, and privets were used to create the shape of “Water Park.” Precious trees such as plane trees, peach blossoms, flowering quince, crape myrtle, and crabapple were also planted. The decorative patterns made of roses, forsythia, and winter jasmine are novel and unique, creating more green spaces for local residents.
