Zhao County is famed as the “hometown of snowflake pears.” It boasts 250,000 mu of pear orchards. Currently, the county’s tourism bureau has reached an agreement with pear farmers in Nanzhuang Village, Fanzhuang Town—the main snowflake pear production area—to set up picking zones in three premium pear orchards with trees over a century old. Visitors only need to pay a 10-yuan entrance fee to receive a beautifully crafted basket and freely pick pears in the orchard, experiencing the joy of labor. Upon leaving, pears are priced at 1 yuan per kilogram. After living for a long time in the hustle and bustle of the city, coming here to breathe in fresh natural air and enjoy the pleasure of working with your hands is a delight. Bringing your children to the picking garden lets urban kids see what pear trees, apple trees, chestnut trees, prickly ash trees, and peanut plants look like—a vivid nature lesson that’s both fun and educational.
