The Zhu Family Ancestral Hall: Originally built in the 36th year of the Jiajing reign during the Ming Dynasty (1557), the gate tower faces north while the hall itself faces east. It covers a total area of 1,008 square meters with a built-up area of 468 square meters, and consists of six parts: the gate tower, the upper hall, the middle hall, the upper courtyard, the lower courtyard, and the kitchen. The gate tower of the ancestral hall is quite distinctive, featuring upturned eaves and bracket sets, and a single-eave hip-and-gable roof. The grand entrance is composed of a wooden fence gate, double leaf doors, and an arched gate. A pair of stone lions flank the front— the male lion roars fiercely, while the female nuzzles affectionately. The architrave above the gate is intricately carved with three layers of a dragon-and-pearl design, vivid and lifelike. The upper section features relief carvings of the Eight Immortals and other celestial beings; the middle section is inscribed with eight large characters: “Dangshan Nurtures Excellence, Ru River Brings Blessings,” signifying that the Zhu family’s ancestors originated from Dangshan County, Anhui Province; the top is adorned with a mythical ao fish. The gate couplet reads: “The Ru River flows from the east, gathering at the ford and reaching the Yijing Well, its generations’ roots traceable; The Zhu Gate stands facing north, straddling the brocaded stone and leaping the golden fish, its virtuous legacy enduring.” The memorial archway on the eastern side of the lower courtyard is also quite unique. At its center-top is a molded relief of “Golden Fish Symbolizing Excellence,” while the lower beam surface is carved with a three-tiered stone relief of “Dragon and Pearl.” Beneath the beam, the central inscription reads “Clouds Converge,” flanked on both sides by reliefs of figures fishing for a golden turtle and a golden frog, with additional paintings depicting the Eight Immortals crossing the sea and other mythical tales. Additionally, the ancestral hall houses several treasured relics: first, four ancient imperial lanterns passed down through generations; second, a lifelike stone carving of a carp leaping through the Dragon Gate; and third, a golden plaque inscribed with the words “One World” handwritten by Comrade Zhu De.
