The Giant Tortoise Garden is located in Pingshan County, Hebei Province, 35 kilometers from the provincial capital Shijiazhuang and very close to the revolutionary sacred site of Xibaipo. It is a new-style patriotic tourist destination invested in and constructed by Fan Haiting, a farmer from Dongye Village in Pingshan County, a Top Ten National News Figure and National Model Worker, based on thirteen years of soft-shelled turtle farming, to celebrate the return of Hong Kong and Macao and the 50th anniversary of the founding of the People’s Republic of China. Here, natural and cultural landscapes blend seamlessly, offering both beauty and depth. It is known as the largest soft-shelled turtle breeding base in North China, and famous for its ten-thousand-ton giant tortoise and the Millennium Archway, two Guinness World Records.
