Shijiazhuang Zoo

The new site of Shijiazhuang Zoo is located in Dujiacun Village, northwest of Huolu Town, Luquan City, Hebei Province. It lies at the junction of the Taihang Mountain Range foothills and the North China Plain, belonging to a low mountainous and hilly area. It is 17.5 kilometers east of the downtown center of Shijiazhuang, adjacent to the Shitai Expressway to the south, bordered by the Bai’luquan Qizhuang Forest Farm to the west, and faces National Highway 307 to the north, forming part of the western tourism belt of the provincial capital along with Baodu Village, Panlong Lake, Fenglong Mountain, Cangyan Mountain, Tian Gui Mountain, and Wuyuezhai.

The landscape layout of the zoo adopts an asymmetrical design, using the rolling contours of Yin Feng Mountain as a backdrop, seamlessly integrating natural scenery with man-made structures. Based on the terrain, the park is divided into 18 functional areas: the Entrance Area, Flamingo Zone, Science Popularization Hall (under construction), Wetland Bird Zone, Office Area, Pavilion Area, Monkey Hill, Central Service Area, Children’s Animal Zone, Aviary Forest, Alpine Animal Zone, Raptor Zone, Asian Animal Zone, African Animal Zone, Australian Animal Zone, Lion and Tiger Valley, Pastoral Scenery Zone, and Hiking & Fitness Zone. The Pavilion Area mainly consists of nine exhibition halls: Giraffe Pavilion, Elephant Pavilion, Amphibian & Reptile Pavilion, Aquatic Pavilion, Panda Pavilion, Monkey Pavilion, Gorilla Pavilion, Mandrill Pavilion, and Baboon Pavilion.

The new zoo houses and displays over 3,000 individual animals representing more than 250 species from both China and abroad, including flamingos, golden monkeys, Siberian tigers, Asian elephants, giraffes, chimpanzees, kangaroos, seals, cassowaries, white tigers, springboks, jackals, and more. Among them, over 2,000 animals of 70-plus species—including white tigers, flamingos, wildebeests, greater kudus, topi, European mouflon, cassowaries, African wild dogs, otters, toucans, and Amazon parrots—are newly introduced. The concept of unobstructed views and varied perspectives is a new highlight in the zoo's design. Different viewing methods such as looking up, looking down, elevated boardwalks, display windows, and underwater corridors offer visitors unique visual experiences throughout the park.

Public Transport: Take bus routes 游5, 游6, 游12, 320, 305, 309, 316, or 321 within Shijiazhuang city and get off at the Zoo Station.

Self-driving Routes:

1. Drive west along Xinhua West Road, then follow National Highway 307 to the intersection of Xiangyang Street in Luquan City. Turn south and go 500 meters to reach the zoo.

2. Drive west along Zhongshan West Road, turn right at Shangzhuang Army Academy, then drive north to National Highway 307. Turn left and drive west to the intersection of Xiangyang Street, then turn south and go 500 meters to reach the zoo.

3. Drive west along Heping West Road to Xiangyang Street in Luquan City, turn left, and drive south for 800 meters to reach the zoo.

4. Drive west along Huai’an West Road to Shanqian Avenue, then drive north for 5 kilometers to reach the zoo.
