Pingshan Hot Springs is located in Wentang Town, Pingshan County, about 60 kilometers from Shijiazhuang City. It is one of China’s key hot spring resorts, with water temperatures reaching 60–90 degrees Celsius and covering an area of over 100 acres. The springs contain more than 30 chemical elements including sulfur, and are classified as high-temperature, weakly alkaline, chloride-sulfate radon springs. They have high medicinal value and are particularly effective for treating heart disease, rheumatism, and skin diseases.

Bathing in the springs can help cure illnesses. In the past, there was a Temple of Emperor Wu of Han near the springs. Legend has it that the springs were dug during his reign. The emperor suffered from a skin disease that was long incurable. One night, he dreamed that a deity told him there was a miraculous hot spring that could heal his condition. He then searched far and wide and, upon arriving at the Wentang River, bathed in the hot springs—his illness was miraculously cured. Later, a hot spring temple was built there. On the high western bank of the Wentang River once stood the Lutai Temple, which was used to bury a white deer—this is now the site of Lutai Village. The temple had long since been abandoned, with only a stone stele remaining.

Wentang Town: Wentang Town is located in the eastern part of Pingshan County, 20 kilometers east of the county seat and 55 kilometers from Shijiazhuang, the provincial capital. Covering a total area of 98 square kilometers, it administers 43 administrative villages with a total population of 23,000. It is a vibrant land rich in historical heritage, unique resource appeal, and full of vitality. The Wentang River meanders from south to north through the urban area, the Shuohuang Railway runs through the town and includes a fourth-class passenger station, and National Highway 207 also passes through the urban area, making transportation very convenient.
